Australia's largest and most comprehensive meeting, convention and event space is under construction in Melbourne. The centrepiece of an A$1.4 billion urban development, the new Melbourne Convention Centre will have a 5000 seat plenary hall, 32 meeting rooms and a banquet hall for 1500. The development includes a Hilton hotel and a lively riverside precinct, including 60,000m2 of retail which will revitalise the last crucial section of the Yarra River edge and link Southbank to Docklands. The new centre will be a major Melbourne landmark, complementing the city's other iconic art and cultural buildings.
